Mazatlan

Mazatlan is a resort town located on the pacific shores of Sinaloa, Mexico. Known for its 21km-long beachfront boardwalk, its post-colonial architecture, year-round perfect weather and top-rated restaurants.

Mazatlan is known as the pearl of the pacific and is a hot spot for sports like deep-sea fishing, surfing, paragliding, and of course, cycling. It’s also a romantic city with its Mexican colonial charm, quaint streets, and an array of cultural activities. If you’re a foodie, you’ll fall in love with its famous array of fresh seafood (considered the best in Mexico) and gourmet restaurants. Mazatlan offers all types of beaches, small and large.

You might be coming here to race GFNY but there are many activities to enjoy while here.

Course

GFNY Mazatlán is your perfect springtime race with its gently rolling hills, beach-front views and a route filled with Mexican charm.

The race starts and finishes at the famous Fisherman monument located on the Malecón Avenue at the Pacific Ocean. Get ready for a two-lap race course for the competitive long distance, which will take you down the 21km-long beachfront Malecón Avenue and then into the historic colonial streets, lined with smooth cobbles and old Mexican architecture. You’ll then pass the hotel zone as you head towards the countryside with its freshly-paved rolling hills, and Sierra Madre mountain views. The streets will be lined with waves of people cheering you to the finish line.

Once you cross the finish line, enjoy the post-race celebration with local bands, DJ’s and a party atmosphere that GFNY Mexico races are famous for. The finish area will have it all, including race results, awards ceremony, the traditional pasta meal and a relaxing massage.

Be part of all the excitement!

LONG COURSE IS A COMPETITION: Only the finishers of the long course are eligible for category rankings and Overall and Podium awards. If you want to race and be ranked in your category, you must complete the long course. Top 10% of finishers in each age group earn a spot in the Qualifier Corral at every GFNY World event.

MEDIUM COURSE IS NOT A COMPETITION: The riders of the 50 miles medium course will be provided their start-to-finish time, but will not be ranked by finish time. All finish times will be listed in alphabetical order.

Perks included as part of GFNY Mazatlan

THE JERSEY: All riders receive the official GFNY Mazatlan race jersey, which is mandatory attire at the race. The jersey is designed in NYC and Made in Italy.

CHIP TIMING: GFNY Mazatlan is a timed race. Each athlete has their own timing chip, which starts right after you cross the start line and stops when you cross the finish line. Timing results will be available at gfny.cc/results.

FINISHER MEDAL: Every GFNY Mazatlan finisher receives a medal, no matter which distance they complete. All finishers also earn a “Finish” towards their 3x2020-2021 GFNY medal or the 10x medal. Go to gfny.com/medals for more information on GFNY’s multi-finisher medals.
